Une compote de pomme est une purée de fruits composée de pommes cuites ou fraiches et éventuellement d'un peu de sucre ou de cannelle. En France la compote est un dessert, alors que dans l’Europe du Nord et de l'Est ou l’Amérique, les compotes accompagnent très souvent les viandes.
