In order to offer greater flexibility and security, they can be mounted at a random place in a given machine (e.g. bottom of a multi-functional printer) while their antennas can be connected via a cable and situated at a different place in order to allow more convenient identification for users (e.g. ID terminal on the side of a printer). This gives hardware integrators the freedom to optimally use any remaining empty spaces in their machines and attach antennas of their choice.
